London Fields Radio Rap Mix
Lately I have been listening to LFR (London Fields Radio); a tiny radio station based in a corner in the Wilton Way Cafe in Hackney. I'm really happy to have this as my local radio station!
Check out this old school rap mix, bringing back memories!

Saturday night with Efdemin
Last Saturday Efdemin was playing at Fabric. I keep saying to myself I will never go back there, but they always bring good acts... so I keep going back... We got there at 4am and stayed until just before 6.30am. Efdemin played a super nice set; dark, industrial and quite repetitive, in a positive way of course! Even though I really enjoyed the music, I avoided going to any other room, I didn't manage to get into it. I found the crowd, as always, distracting, mainly made of students, tourists, and non music lovers... Not really there for the music, rather because Fabric is the only club they know in London. I really hope Efdemin recorded the set, so I can listen to it at home while partying with my mates!
SKUDGE LIVE AT THE OFFICE-15.05.10 by freshgood02 Oh yes... we also got there just before Skudge finished his set. I would have enjoyed that a lot! I did enjoy a lot the 15mins I heard! Such a shame we are always late...
Here's a little something from Skudge!..

need more techno
So, what have I been up to the last two weekends? Partying and listening to Juljan play!.. Whenever the DJ would change, I would just wait until Juljan would be back on the decks! And yes the highlight was definitely the last set on Sunday morning, I just couldn't get the smile off my face!
Very excited to find him on Soundcloud, though quite dissappointed there are only two mixes... Juljan you really need to upload some more music!..
Thank you for the hours of fun!

Ryan Elliott at Electric Minds

Last Saturday I went to an Electric Minds event at a secret location in Shoreditch, where Ryan Elliott was playing. It was in a basement just off Hoxton Street. Really nice location; quite big, well ventilated, Funktion One in white; it really does look impressive in white!
I got there around 2.30am and I knew straight away I was going to love it! And it kept getting better and better. Berlin based Ryan Elliott, currently on Ostgut Ton, played an amazing techno set. I just couldn't stop dancing! His mixing was flawless, the tracks were just right for the mood, the crowd was loving it and he seemed to be loving it too! There were a few moments I could have done with a little bit less vocals, but then again that definitely didn't ruin it for me to the slightest! So no complaints really!
The only disappointing thing was that for some reason they closed the night at 5.30am instead of 6am. Maybe it was because people had started leaving, but I think the ones that were still there would have definitely liked to keep going for another half hour... Or anyway I would have for sure! Nevertheless, what a great way to finish the bank holiday weekend! Without a doubt best night of the weekend!
Here's a pretty cool tech house mix by the man himself!

Marcel Dettmann at Fabric
Saturday night at Fabric with Marcel Dettmann. He started at 3.30am and played an amazing 3.5hr set. Didn't move from the room for the whole time, didn't stop dancing till the end, wasn't interested in going to see anyone else. Definitely enjoyed more the last 1.5hr of his set. Have to say though... I'm really not that keen on Fabric... Enjoyed so much more seeing Dettmann at Corsica Studios and Berghain, there's something about Fabric that just doesn't do it for me.
And for an unusual mix from Dettmann...

Prefuse73 & Zola Jesus mix 1
The Misanthrope Meditation; a 40min long psychedelic mix, is the result of a collaboration between Prefuse73 and Zola Jesus. This is the first in a series to come. I thought it was a strange collaboration when I first heard of it, but actually it really works! Looking forward to the next mixes!

Berlin Next - bringing Berghain in Paris
Radio Granouille is having a pop up studio this week at La Gaite Lyrique in Paris. They have teamed up with another 2 radio stations and are putting on Berlin Next, a 5 day event that offers the best of the Berlin scene at the moment. The event includes talks, projections and club nights. I went to have a look yesterday and was really impressed with the building the event is held on... It's like a cultural centre near Reaumur Sebastopol with artists studios, exhibitions space, bars and space for the club nights! Its style combines traditional with futuristic elements really nicely, without them clashing with each other! I'm going back on Saturday night so watch this space!
Here you can have a listen to the new mix Sebastien Bromberger, founder of Paris based label Modelisme Records, just put together for Radio Grannouille 888 in Marseille.
Endless hours of joy listening to Seb playing!

Peter Van Hoesen!
Lately I've been listening a lot to Peter Van Hoesen. There is nothing I've heard from him that I haven't liked. Would be so great to see him play live! Shame it doesn't seem like he's coming to London any time soon. Although I could always go see him play somewhere else... For now (and the next 4 hours) I guess this will have to do!

Bloc Weekend 2011 - Day 3
Day 3 would have started with A Guy Called Gerald in the Ableton RFID Dome, if there wasn't such a massive queue outside, again!... Such a shame, I loved being the dome last year. I think for next year they should get a bigger dome... Is that possible?
A Guy Called Gerald - 2010-09-24 - DJ Set at Long Late Night Drive by Electro-Mix-Memory
Anyway, off to the Reb:Bloc to see Gentleman's Dub Club, which really is the best start of the day I could have asked for! The only improvement would be to be outdoor, under the sun, on a sandy beach, next to the sea... Have to stop thinking of sunny summer, it's too painful... brain, go back to beautiful Butlins!... So, Gentleman's Dub Club, love it! Love the energy, love the dub, love the trumpets and the crowd seems to love it too! It's wild, everyone is dancing crazy!
Next stop Jak:Blok to see Lone and Kyle Hall. And then for the close of the festival... Laurent Garnier, who was there with another two guys, one on the machine and the other on the keyboard. At the beginning it was a little bit too housey for me but the last hour was wicked! They went much harder, the sound of the keyboard was absolutely amazing and the lighting with the lasers just made the whole experience so much better. Nothing more for me to say, just watch the video...
Can't wait for next year!!!

Lucy’s Wordplay For Working Bees
A few days ago Lucy released his new album Wordplay for Working Bees on his own berlin based label Stroboscopic Artefacts and I can with no doubt say, it's one of the best techno albums I've listened to so far. Haven't bought it yet, but have listened to the entire album more than a few times already as it can be streamed in full from FACT. It's deep, quite dub at times and very atmospheric with some male vocals here and there, which don't normally do it for me but here they somehow work pretty well. He definately doesn't come accross as harsh as in his live sets.
Talking of his live sets, listen to this...

How is this even possible? Killer set! It's almost too much even to just imagine being in Berghain listening to this...
